Steps for Obtaining Your Private Pilot Certificate

Start:
Prior to starting flight training, it is a good idea to take an introductory flight. After completing your first flight, you'll be asking how to begin your Private Pilot Training. We've put together some information to help you understand how the process works and how much it costs. This course is designed for students who have little or no flight training experience and want to obtain a Private Pilots License.

Dual Instruction Phase I:
During Phase I of the dual instruction stage of your training, you will learn how to properly checkout and pre-flight an airplane to ensure that it is in airworthy condition. You will also learn how to get an official aviation weather briefing.
Your instructor will demonstrate maneuvers such as a normal takeoff, climbs and climbing turns, descents and turning descents, slow flight, stalls, steep turns, ground reference maneuvers and normal landings.
At the end of Phase I, you will be ready for solo flight.  Your first solo is probably the most exhilarating thing you will ever do alone. You will also experience a tremendous amount of self-confidence and reward with just a little anxiety to keep you focused.

Dual Instruction Phase II:
In this phase of instruction you will learn how to perform short and soft field takeoffs and landings and the art of navigating to other airports outside of the Tucson local flying area, and to fly and navigate the airplane at night.

FAA Knowledge Examination:
Successful completion of the Private Pilot Written Knowledge Examination is required prior to receiving your Private Pilot Certificate. It covers all the areas that you have studied in ground school and is a multiple choice test.  It is the policy of Circle T Aviation that the Knowledge Examination be passed prior to the solo cross-country phase of training.

Solo X-country:
With an endorsement of your instructor, you will make your first solo cross-country.

Dual Instruction Phase III:
During Phase III you will perfect all of the maneuvers and skills you’ve learned that make you a safe and proficient pilot. You are now ready to demonstrate to the examiner that you are prepared to earn the title of aviator.

FAA Practical Test:
The FAA Practical Test is the final examination leading to your Private Pilot Certificate.  The examination is administered by an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). The test consists of two parts.  The first part is an oral examination,. The second part of the examination is the flight check. Upon successful completion of the Practical Test you will receive your temporary Private Pilot Certificate.

Ground Training Progress Checks:
A progress check is given at the end of each course section. It is a written quiz covering the material that was presented in the section.
Exercises: Exercises are assignments that are used to reinforce the material being learned in each section.
Practice Tests: Practice FAA Knowledge Examinations are taken on the Circle T Aviation Flight Training Center testing computer
